  • 2. MC (Motor Carrier) Authority Status: REQUIRED for interstate Action: Confirm authority is active, not pending or revoked
  • 3. Liability Insurance Status: REQUIRED — $750,000 minimum Note: Federal minimum for interstate carriers
  • 4. Cargo Insurance Status: REQUIRED — $100,000 minimum Note: Higher coverage recommended for high-value freight
  • 5. Equipment Match Status: VERIFY before booking Check: Vehicle class (3/4/5), trailer type (flatbed/gooseneck/lowboy) Check: Securement equipment (chains, straps, tarps)
  • 6. References & Track Record Status: RECOMMENDED Ask for: Industry-specific experience, CSA scores, customer references
  • 7. Written Rate Confirmation Status: REQUIRED Note: Never rely on verbal agreements. Get written BOL.

Red Flags

  • No DOT number or expired authority
  • Unusually low quotes (may indicate underinsurance)
